As someone who was skeptical of @AOC initially, I fully admit that she seems more than most others to be meeting the moment. She has a pulse on the public that people like Chuck Schumer simply do not have.
Trump and the GOP understand many Americans are fed up with the status quo. The problem with many Dem leaders is that they are addicted to it. Progress requires change...which requires not just courage but imagination and the willingness to ask hard questions. open.substack.com/pub/davidrot...

Leader Jeffries and @maxwellfrost.bsky.social are La Résistance.

Let’s hope Senate Ds are not Vichy.
House Dems stand with our leadership in holding the line for working people.

NO to this Trump/Elon spending bill that aims to make massive cuts to programs that working families have earned in order to give billionaires tax cuts.

This is a time when you’re either Vichy or La Résistance.

Speaker Emerita Pelosi is plainly La Résistance.

We shall see what Senate Dems are.
In a rare moment of public disagreement with members of her own party, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi called out Senate Democrats Friday for supporting Republicans' government funding extension www.sfchronicle.com/politics/art...
In remarkable split, Nancy Pelosi slams Chuck Schumer over budget deal
At stake is preventing a shutdown, but many Democrats argue there are much bigger-picture issues at play.

Rahm is the last person any serious Dem should support. He wholly deprioritized judges when Obama’s COS—ceding the courts to Rs. Utterly disastrous tenure as Mayor. He is textbook example of failing up and what is wrong with the Democratic Party. We need fresh, less cynical, more visionary leaders.
Column: Rahm Emanuel is gearing up to run for president. Could he be the one to save Democrats in 2028? Politics bureau chief Jonathan Martin takes a closer look 👇

This is what capitulation and surrender to #Putin looks like. Incredible. Putin is a Soviet admiring chaos instigating figure and the US has just surrendered to Putin.

Elon Musk said DOGE made a mistake by cutting USAID’s Ebola prevention but it had been “restored.”

That’s not true, current and former officials told me and @johnphudson.bsky.social.

“There have been no efforts to ‘turn on’” Ebola prevention, said Nidhi Bouri, who oversaw team until January.
Musk claims DOGE ‘restored’ Ebola prevention effort. Officials disagree.

Basically complete capitulation and surrender.

Trump and Hegseth are rewarding Putin for his aggression. It’s incredibly ill advised because it will merely invite additional lawless aggression.
Hegseth: "We must start by recognizing that returning to Ukraine's pre-2014 borders is an unrealistic objective ... the US does not believe that NATO membership for Ukraine is a realistic outcome of a negotiated settlement."

Witkoff seems the very embodiment of hubris and ignorance. Many peoples around the world—including many Americans of all types in the interior West—have a particular relationship to a place that is sacred to them. Palestinians do as well. So the idea that they can settle elsewhere will be anathema.
Steve Witkoff: "Peace in the region means a better life for the Palestinians. A better life is not necessarily to tied to the physical space that you're in today ... that doesn't occur because you get to pitch a tent in the Gaza Strip."

The power this and any court has to stand for rule of law is to personalize the consequences of wrongdoing through contempt powers. Order DOGE head Musk to appear in court or send out the marshals. Detain under civil contempt until compliance is guaranteed.
This is the moment we’ve always been headed towards. If the President refuses to follow a court’s order we are in deep crisis. The GOP has courted this disaster.

While unsurprising, this withdrawal is ill advised. The Council has flaws but ceding it to Russia and China is a grotesque error for human rights.

Not surprising. Empowering the inexperienced is not a bug, it’s a feature. These individuals in an ordinary world would never amass this kind of power. So they owe their allegiance to Elon and Trump. They will be the ultimate yes men.

We cannot hope that these companies will act courageously or expect that they will do so. We have to draw lines of what we will do in response. We have agency.

It is extraordinarily and inherently racists - let’s be clear - to suggest as Trump does here that there is this binary choice between competence or excellence on the one hand and diversity on the other. It’s a prevarication grounded in white supremacy.
