Charlie Kirk was not assassinated.

Charlie Kirk was murdered.

Charlie Kirk was not a public official covered by assassination statutes. There is no suggestion that the killer was motivated by a contract. Charlie Kirk lacked the public prominence to merit "assassination" in common usage.

Right?! My (nonlawyer) boyfriend said “Isn’t this just lying to the court? Don’t you get in trouble for that?” It’s not rocket science, it’s basic fundamental ethics.

My mind has been spinning the last few days as multiple crises of journalism converged—the Nuzzi book, Epstein’s emails revealing journalists hid information, Trump berating a reporter with no consequence—and it occurred to me they all stemmed from the same source: elite impunity.
Moral rot in elite journalism is killing the whole field
The Nuzzi/RFK Jr. mess and the revelation of Esptein's journo pals lay bare a profound moral absence at the heart of our free press.

I just do not understand the overconfidence of the mediocre in this regime. I am anxious to distraction just taking a pro bono case that requires me to fill out a form and submit it to the court. If only we could spread some of that around.

No matter where we look: Religious identity, racial and cultural resentment, attitudes towards the religious/racial/cultural pluralization of American society are dividing the country - and shaping the political conflict- much more strongly than education polarization.

Got called up in grad school - was in voir dire and the defense attorney asked “if you were me, would you put yourself on this jury?” (An interesting approach.) said no and when she asked why just said “because I went to law school.” It got a laugh but I also got picked and I don’t know why.

This blows my mind! I literally just finished a pro bono petition for SIJS (we have the state court finding of abuse) - now I’m not sure we should file it! Ugh

My first thought was “I wonder what a civil liberties lawyer at google does.” Then I paused and thought a bit and now I think those are two separate things.

English is hard.
