The famous prize-winning red bull, Albannach, in 1909 after he was purchased at a sale organised by the Highland Cattle Society in Oban by William Dalziel Mackenzie of Farr, Daviot. Mackenzie was the owner of a herd of pedigree Highland cattle.

The teacher and pupils of Borgie Side School, Sutherland, in 1937. The school had opened in October 1935. 

Standing on the right of the middle row is Geordie Mackenzie who was born in Evanton but moved to Sutherland where his father, Alec, was a forestry worker.

#Inverness Harbour, c1954 with Shore Street on the left. The German vessel, 'Achim Waap', is tied alongside. She was one of a number of cargo ships owned by Reederei Waap of Kiel which sailed regularly between North Sea and Baltic ports

The #Armistice Service at #Helmsdale War Memorial on #RemembranceDay, 1945. It was conducted by Rev. Dr A. B. Scott of St John's Church. Wreaths were laid by local branches of the British Legion and W. Macdonald of Portgower played a lament on the pipes

The committee which organised the Belgian Flag Day in #Stornoway and across #Lewis on this day in 1914. This sale of small paper Belgian flags and rosettes raised £94 12s 3d (approx. £9,500 today) to support Belgian refugees.

Sailors from the corvette, HMS Curacoa, at #Campbeltown, #Argyll, in 1899. There was an outbreak of scarlet fever on board whilst the ship was in the harbour and a temporary camp had to be set up ashore whilst the vessel was fumigated

Railways came to the Highlands on this day in 1855 with the opening of the Inverness & Nairn Railway. Almost 800 people boarded the first train at Inverness and among those who watched it depart was Alexander Mackintosh, a pupil at the Royal Academy, who drew one of the locomotives:
