When asked about Indigenous opposition to fast-tracking natural resource projects, including Ksi Lisims, Carney said that the feds are "putting on the table huge financing for indigenous equity ownership," suggesting that nations who oppose the projects should simply buy into them.

Ha! Great question. Assuming he's identifying as media, I don't think we can blame Bob. Only 6% of requests came from media in the peak year, 2020-21, and they've generally ranged around 10-15% in the years since.

Most came from opposition parties:

Combining personal requests, which don’t incur fees, has watered down trends seen since BC implemented a $10 fee for govt records — namely, the steep decline in numbers and rise in processing fees.

This didn’t make it into the story, but BC also changed how it reports FOI numbers.

Rather than separating FIPPA and PIPA, it now reports personal requests to MCFD (which are 50+ % of all privacy requests) separately, while combining remaining privacy requests with general records requests.
