Tweets are my own. I like thinking about the brain—human and otherwise. Language. Cognition. Awake brain mapping. Climbing. Deserts. Hiking. Yoga. Breathing. I like people in general. And yet solitude is healthy.

I deeply appreciate companies like @patagonia.com and @benandjerrys.bsky.social that take things like corporate responsibility seriously in ways that set shining examples for American society www.bostonglobe.com/2025/09/18/b...

Nearly half a century after they started their brand, cofounders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, who resigned this week, have held to their progressive values.

RFK Jr. rolled out that old chestnut again about how healthy Americans were in the 60’s, so here’s a fact check.

In 1965:

-42% of American adults smoked; it’s 11% now.

-The infant morality rate was 24.7/1000; it’s 5.6/1000 now.

-Overall life expectancy was 70 years; it's about 77 years now.

Question for anyone — but I’m seriously curious about how this is framed in professional dialogues: what #evolutionary role does an experience of #disillusionment play in human existence if at all? Is it simply part of learning? Is it maladaptive when we get stuck in that state?

Don’t they have better things to do than gripe and strategize over district lines to game the system? Do actual content work. Change hearts and minds, not lines #republicans #democrats #uspolitics

I’m reading about #Patagonia (company). It’s the perfect thing to motivate & inspire amidst upheaval in America. For those who can take time to see the importance of caring for the planet because humans are part of its interconnected biodiversity, do read this! Great perspectives / scope!

@patagonia.com can you make sustainably sourced and ethical cat/dog food? I feed my cat salmon from cans and have such a limited understanding of what natural food I can actually give my indoor only pet. It’s a black box to me with vets just recommending processed options.

I am sick of thinking about it and him, but of all the obviously wrong things that people have believed about Donald Trump, the idea that he wouldn't instantly be into dropping bombs on brown foreigners in order to look tough or just more or less for yuks has to be the dumbest/wrongest.

The Rump administration has a personality disorder and no idea how to form meaningful, productive attachments. I’m sorry and ashamed, everyone-else-in-the-world.

Let’s not bomb Iran. No rip tides into foreign wars. This scenario feels even flimsier than WMDs in Iraq.

🚨Heard about this earlier today; ICE is expanding to arrests at ATD (alternatives to detention) case management check-ins. Dozens of people got texts to show up weeks in advance of their normal check-in, and ended up detained.

Three women let go were told to come back tomorrow with their kids.

Here is the article. It makes clear that these operations are causing people to be terrified to attend their court hearings or ICE check-ins.

This is actively damaging the rule of law. ICE’s actions are encouraging people to not comply with the law. www.thecity.nyc/2025/06/03/i...
