Some good points here, especially on rest, guilt and stress, and, changing career in 40s (which I did, it felt brave and exciting and was the best thing I've done).

This should be the final straw for the private sale of fireworks in Scotland. Councils must be able to limit displays to organised events.
Firework noise has long caused extreme stress for our pets and wildlife. It's unfair and dangerous to allow it to continue.
