There's some strange people in the SEO who don't realize, they are only being followed because they are perceived as valuable to the community.

Once your off-topic posts / sales efforts start to outweigh the purported value, your followers will unsubscribe/mute faster than you possible imagine.

Can completely relate as I've been there, done that.

Rejection sensitivity always rises if you've been in a role too long.

In that case it can pay to keep on moving or to simulate that you are moving (e.g. mock interviews, etc.).
Rejection sensitivity has material impacts. I used to have difficulty negotiating pay. Salary or day rate. It’s hard to gauge your own worth when you’re just glad they let you in at all. I was lucky to be in an outsized market where even the lower end paid relatively high. About 20% variance.

Every day, way more knowledge is created than we could possibly consume.

Therefore, if we define ignorance as the ratio of our knowledge over all knowledge, we can mathematically prove that we become more ignorant by the day, no matter what we do.

I’ll let that sink in for a bit.

Not sure it's a good idea to post updates about your job search under your real name.

If these companies do an online check, you don't really want them to see your postings about being rejected

Every single person I know who's done this became/stayed a freelancer.

It sucks having no regulation or laws for bots on social media. It's best to be dubious of anything that goes super viral and critically analyze it before automatically assuming it's a popular sentiment. Stop and question who benefits from it going viral before accepting it as real engagement.

Note to self - Social Media is NOT the place to get news.

It doesn't matter which side. I've seen disinformation from all sides.

Even if they post a link. That means NOTHING unless you actually review the link.

Better yet, go to Reuters or AP News directly.

I'm yearning for a time when I can explain to a feed algorithm what I want to see in natural language. Until then I'll have to find a different way to block pigeons. All other birds are cool though. No hate, just no interest.

Honesty about better

"I don't want to learn to be better," is something we rarely admit. We don't say: I don't want to learn statistics, even though it will dramatically improve my decision making. I don't want to learn a new programming language, even though it will get me a better job. I don't…

I don't want to learn methods for creativity, strategy or marketing, even though they will help me get unstuck.

For generations, humans have been entrusting their lives to computers. Air Traffic Control, statistical analysis of bridge resilience, bar codes for drug delivery, even the way stop lights are controlled. But computers aren't the same as the LLMs that run on them. Claude.ai is my favorite LLM, but even Claude makes errors. Should we wait until it's perfect before we use it?

A reminder that you don't have to rely on social media (here or anywhere else) for news. Legit news organizations/journalists have their own sites/feeds and you can make time to visit them and catch up if you like. Then curate your social media to be what you need it to be for your own well-being.

How to curate your feed

- Update list of muted words.
- Block/mute what you don't want to see. (That includes content from people you fundamentally agree with. Second-hand toxicity is a thing.)
- Give thumbs up to content you want to see.
