He died as he lived, clicking “Forgot password,” then checking his inbox for a code, then putting in that code, then setting up two-step verification, and then waiting for the text message that doesn’t come, and then calling the 800 number, and then downloading an authenticator app, and dying.

Nothing has been worse for actual governance than every major news outlet firing all their non-lobby journalists, thus reducing 90% of media coverage to, "some stuff happened, let's discuss what it means for Boris Johnson..."
One way that the 2019-2024 period has broken everyone’s brains is that everything gets refracted through “does this cut through?”/ “is this electorally salient?” - I mean, no kidding, local government reorganisation is not that sexy!
