Sure, I hear you. In the past, I've specified that my issue with certain AltNPS posts is the lack of any citation, rather than specific plagiarism, and I should probably have done that here, too.
And I know many users post like this, but 99% of users aren't pretending to be government insiders!

In most cases, I would absolutely agree, and I'm not even really accusing AltNPS of stealing from The Hill specifically. But they're *so* prolific in their plagiarism, and so allergic to sources in general, that it's still a problem when they choose not to provide one!

And even more broadly, why is a rogue National Parks staffer talking about the actual National Parks less than 2% of the time?

Fun fact: by my count, the Alt National Park Service has posted about the real National Parks 66 times.
With their roughly 3,900 total posts, this means that about 1.6% of posts by the Alt National Park Service are about the actual National Park Service.

Interesting! Yes, but very, VERY rarely.
My theory was that AltNPS doesn't repost other people because their mystique comes from being an "insider." If they're just RTing posts like everyone else, then what makes them special? Why give them attention?
So they never RT anyone, ever.

This is such a weird thing to notice, and yes, my brain is absolutely cooked. But this post stands out because AltNPS basically never retweets other people; with this one included, they've only done it five times in the last three months.

"Trust them only as far as you can throw them" really stands out to me. It's something that, a few months ago, AltNPS would have posted without context, to seem mysterious. It's also exactly the kind of tone that initially reminded me of the Q drops.
But now, it's just part of a tweetstorm.

That the Alt National Park Service would do this, that they would use the trauma and terror inflicted on my friends and neighbors as fodder for their own platform, is disgusting. It's astonishing how low this account has managed to sink.

I absolutely agree that we "need national voices," but AltNPS sure didn't link to any. They didn't offer any way to help the victim (who again, they did not bother to name), or link to any news coverage of this event.

I think the merch is the one thing they're genuinely savvy about lol. They know that if they make it too explicit, it'll ruin their image and they won't seem legit anymore.
