…if you want to see the Republicans in DC abandon Trump you have to make his polling collapse. Which means that people who used to support him have to prefer the alternative. Telling those folks that they deserved what they’re getting just reinforces Trump’s narrative that we are two Americas…

As a car guy who loves biking… so true. It’s the opposite with biking though, but it never clicked for me before!

This is also why I’m not a fan of the FAFO line of post-election shitposting. How many people actually thought they were voting to, like, ban trees in cities and to pull the US out of the World Health Organization?

Maybe they were naive. They were also lied to by a lot of powerful people.

Can we just make Yosemite, Sequoia, Joshua Tree, Lassen, Pinnacles and all the National Parks in California into Cal State parks?

We can hire the rangers back and take care of our lands.

We have 9 of the 63 National Parks here. The park rangers were treated so cruelly, and our lands are forever.

"Gulf of America" is just a loyalty test. It's a way of checking who is going to abrogate reality for no reason other than a cowardly refusal to stand up to the bully or an opportunistic willingness to toady up to one. Anyone who will call it that will help you round people up or look the other way.

You may not like it, but Leah's right. There's a reason the Prodigal Son is a parable in almost every culture. when someone experiencing cognitive dissonance comes to you, you have two choices: embrace them, and win them over forever; or reject them, ensuring they never again question their beliefs.
