It's mostly blacks and greys. It's partially a tendency of all shadow users (they can see very well in the dark but not colour). It's also easier to keep dark clothes looking clean and she hasn't had time or money for fancy stuff for a while.

Here's the general word for feather written in this language. It's one of the hardest words for MC to pronounce (not being a native speaker) since it has both 'o' sounds in close proximity.
Yes, it has been used for the purpose in the past.

I managed to sketch Entei the parrot (one of the main cast of my WIP Shadow Mirage) and I am extremely happy about it. It's not perfect but I got the colours down.
(not based on any existing species of cockatoo).
