I always hear people saying "you should have hobbies and interests beyond your children, otherwise your life will be empty when they grow up" while I'm here thinking about all the cool stuff I'd like to do but just don't have the time. Bicycling, woodworking, music, photography, so many things.

It was a nice, beautiful day. We spent a lot of time outside cleaning the car then putting up holiday decorations. The kid got to play with her bestie. We all had pizza for dinner.

The 7yo asked to take pancakes for lunch at school so I mixed some batter last night and cooked it this morning. Also included a tiny bottle of maple syrup in her lunch box.

Took a long lunch break to go to the barber. Who's a great guy and offers all kinds of life advice over the 90 minute service. We chat about politics, football, the climate and our personal lives.
I already have a therapist, but the barber is like a mental health side quest (complimentary).

I casually texted the guy who cleaned my gutters if he would install holiday lights too and I kid you not the guy is f*ing Clark Griswold himself.
He's lecturing me now about raw light cables and watertight splitters. I guess we're going big on Christmas decorations this year

Of course a 10% raise would be nice but at what cost? Everything is fine, life is chill. Not sure I want any added responsibility and expectations

Got to do some woodworking on the weekend, also had some good food at home. The weather is majestic, the trees are showing off the fall colors. I'm knocking things out of the to-do list.

Then I remembered my garage doesn't have any power outlets. 🤦
So will be experimenting with a power bank, a solar panel and power tools

Feeling excited about woodworking again! Now that outside temperatures don't feel like a pizza oven I'm looking forward to cutting some wood and getting frustrated because I measured twice and still cut the wrong length.
