"The Bay in Sunshine"
A little 3 x 4 inch painting on a deep cradled wood panel. I tend to get quite tight and controlled when I paint, so I was pleased at how loose this one turned out. Painting more loosely is an ongoing goal for me.

The fellow in this pic is my cousin's husband. He is Scottish and has been active in supporting Ukraine, including travelling there to bring aid supplies. Edinburgh Direct Aid is the NGO he works with.
Seems like the right time to post this ongoing open appeal.
Buy a Ukrainian child a tablet for £150.
For many it’s too dangerous to go to school. This is their education, this is their future #StandWithUkraine️

Canada is a huge country, with two official languages, many Indigenous nations, and a wide variety of immigrants (of whom I am one). I think the CBC plays a big role in keeping us united as a nation. Let's encourage those running for office to support it.

That quiet majority needs to speak up.

Otherwise, it looks like the loud minority are a majority.
On climate, did you know that only 11% of people in the US (and even smaller percentages in Canada, the UK, Australia and beyond) are dismissive?

Yet because their voices are so loud and persistent, people often think they’re 50%.

This is why I advocate so strongly for using YOUR voice!

Lucky me! Today a friend took me to the home of a recently passed local artist whose daughter was selling off his huge oeuvre of works at VERY low prices. 3+ hours later I left with more art than a woman has a right to. :-) Here's my stash.

I ran across this article via BlueSky today. It sounds to me like very good advice! Let's all take care of ourselves.

Preparing for the Newspocalypse
Mind your sanity. Connect close to home. Set boundaries. Support the media you trust. Live your life. Don't feel guilty about it. There's no better advice than that.

Hey, artsy and craftsy BlueSky friends! I'd love to see what you're making right now. Would you share a pic in the comments?

My big "making" during Christmas holidays has been apple crisps. Finally using up the apples from our trees that have been stored since September.

Wise words from a wise man...

I'm sorry that, in the last months of his life, he had to see who won the latest US election. Talk about self-indulgence and consumption!
“Too many of us now tend to worship self-indulgence and consumption. Human identity is no longer defined by what one does, but by what one owns. But we’ve discovered that owning things and consuming things does not satisfy our longing for meaning.”

This is another small alcohol ink painting on Yupo (plastic) paper. I was inspired by the work of another artist to try the repeated small white dots near the lower right.
