📊 2.4 million births. 7 years of data. One unavoidable conclusion: we have a maternal health crisis hiding in plain sight.

Our new study in Current Problems in Cardiology analyzed every birth to hypertensive mothers in the US (2016-2022).

1/6 🫀 Where you die shapes how you die.
And the U.S. healthcare system is quietly rewriting that story.

We analyzed 7.6 million death certificates (1999–2023) to find out where adults with heart failure spend their final days.

What we found raises hard questions.

1/8 What if the way we measure “feeling better” in heart failure trials is broken?

In our new @ahajournals.bsky.social paper, we dig into how patient-reported outcomes (like KCCQ) are used — and what may be going wrong. 🧵

1/ 🚨 Are we denying older adults a life-saving therapy?

Our meta-analysis (32,541 older adults) shows SGLT-2 inhibitors significantly reduce mortality, heart failure hospitalizations, and major cardiac events.

Yet, they remain underused. Why? 🧵👇

Introducing our new study in Coronary Artery Disease on the #ObesityParadox in #CAD. We analyzed >3.6M 🏥 hospitalizations from the National Inpatient Sample to see how BMI (underweight to class III obesity) impacts in-hospital mortality, length of stay, & costs. #CardioSky #MedSky

Thrilled to share my first publication as lead author in The American Journal of Cardiology! Our study challenges traditional fasting before cardiac catheterization—finding no significant differences in key clinical outcomes, but better patient satisfaction with non-fasting.

Spent the last year diving into CDC WONDER to analyze public health disparities. Proud that this work with my incredible co-authors led to 4 abstracts presented at #AHA24! Open-access data like WONDER is essential for a more equitable healthcare future. Can’t wait to share our findings! 🫀🧑‍⚕️ #MedSky
