My 2nd blog post of the week, and 2nd in my series about saving searches, is all about changing to the new EBSCO platform. My initial perspective on good and bad things, and a focus on the process I used to prepare, ensuring I continue to have access to all my #SystematicReview searches #AliceWrites
EBSCO changes: adjusting and preparing
An academic librarian’s report on exploring the old and new EBSCOhost database platforms for literature searching, with a process for keeping access to saved searches.

Lovely to read Cheryl Francis’s @cilipne.bsky.social creative write up of the #DARTS9 conference, organising insights from presentations on librarians’ involvement in research into Strengths, Opportunities and Barriers.

Today a chance meeting (follow a lovely coffee catch-up) has led to a plan and an actual event arranged and advertised for in a couple of weeks. Sometimes it is possible to make progress very quickly! #NotableNovember #Day10

This evening we listened to various random (to me) musical theatre songs, with some selection being decided. I was partial to ‘On the Street Where You Live’, but it doesn’t really fit with the more modern songs! I feel like I’ve not played enough My Fair Lady to my children… #NotableNovember #Day9

Just the article I wanted to read right now, taking priority over all the things sitting in my ever-growing ‘To Read’ folder!
Claudia Winkleman: The rise and rise of the Strictly and Traitors star
She's taken The Traitors to new heights - but what's next comes with risk, too.

Today was a day with no external plans for once. I had a productive day cooking and washing and tidying and cleaning. So actually rather busy. Busy weekends with commitments are good, but I’m really glad to have this one with no plans #NotableNovember #Day8

The thing I find so bizarre is folks showing up and saying, look this thing AI did and just sending it out into the world. Even though its awful, not just banal, completely wrong and weird.

If an intern gave you this level of output you'd be letting them go...
When I got the email, I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry:
“Our AI turned your paper ‘King’s Crowns: The’ into a shareable comic. ”
Here’s 24,000 words turned into four panels, including a reference to Nork City and the year 17605. Cf. newprairiepress.org/burgonsociet...

I’m going to be interested to see fantasy #CelebrityTraitors casts for next year (presuming there will be another series, but in any case). What would make a good mix…

We didn’t watch it on the night (as we had chess club), and also aren’t in the 16-24 range the article talks about. But we were teenagers and their parents watching together, and desperately avoiding spoilers. Watched #CelebrityTraitors and #Uncloaked last night. Have very much enjoyed the series.

Today I worked with my colleague, planning teaching on Bloomberg and LSEG Workspace. It’s great to both record and refine what I teach regularly on Bloomberg, and develop this for LSEG. And wonderful to have a well planned lesson to use ongoing. Fun working together too. #NotableNovember #Day6

This evening we travelled across London to Canary Wharf station (to go to the theatre - to see The Hunger Games). I’ve been to Canary wharf before, but too many years ago to remember. Coming out of the station in the dark I felt like I was in another country! #NotableNovember #Day5

My attention in the garden is usually piqued by blossom, fruit and early autumn colours. But the leaves are still pretty this time of year, especially on a clear day like today.
