Cynical optimist. I'm just here to post shower-thoughts, weird facts I've just learned (but have nobody specific to share them with), and other irreverent bullcrap. 🇦🇺 Nature lover and tree-hugger proudly hailing from Melbourne, Australia.
C'mon, that's a rounding error, not a punitive measurement.

Make the consequences sting by cranking it up a few orders of magnitude. This arsehole's poised to become a trillionaire for fuck sake, a concept so foreign my spellcheck doesn't even recognise the word.

GitHub's experiencing server issues?

This is why I keep local mirrors of just about everything I depend on, both on a hard-drive and on my MacBook.

I mentioned Gallant to you earlier this arvo. This is what the font looks like, BTW.

(I'm dumping it here on Bluesky because I'm too lazy to come down to the shed and tell you face-to-face, lol)

Belated apologies on behalf of my nation. How's this instead?

She had the same body language, behaviour and overall demeanour of a housecat.

That's my favourite thing about felids: no matter the species, all cats are gonna cat.

Here's a few more pictures I took:

I have an (outdated) copy of the IEEE 754 standard, and 754-2019 is in my wishlist of "expensive digital assets I'd like to buy some day when enough dollars have accumulated in my bank account".

I've no idea why PUBLISHED STANDARDS in PDF format are so fracking expensive…

At least you can tell it was a typo.

This poor bastard doesn't have that excuse:

Whenever Australian nightmare fuel is discussed, I find that "giant flying bull-ants" don't get mentioned nearly enough.

And you thought jumping jacks were bad…

Anyway, I prefer dc(1) over bc(1) if for no other reason that it's terse as fuck and a stack-bsaed concatenative language (like my favourite, PostScript). I even wrote syntax highlighting grammars for both languages.

Just sucks that I'm dogshit at maths, lmao.

BTW, you see this? Cost me $400 USD in 2012 from some independent Norwegian record store (apparently run by a known price-gouger). Bought it because there was literally no rip of it online, and I sought to change that because the band's MySpace samples kicked arse.

I also have a large lounge lamp that had a similar post-it note, only this one had clearer handwriting and said "Free to a good home!"

This was considerably more difficult to lug home, as it was not only heavy, but its form kept readjusting as I carried it (due to the hinge and everything).

But this? Now THAT'S what I call carpentry. Nice mahogany or teak finish, looks like it was made by somebody who gave a fuck about a nice-looking, homely living space, and best of all, it's easy to tell when it needs dusting.

See these? Those are supposed to be shelves made of wood. But Ikea found a way to make the most organic-looking construction material look sterile and synthetic. That is not what the guts of a tree should look like.

Which would go on to inspire…

(Don't ask why I have two copies of Carpathian Forest's demo tape. Neither were cheap, as anybody who's bought OOP records from Discogs's marketplace will attest to…)

Hey, don't worry about. "Only" two trains derailed due to crumbling Hungarian infrastructure. Nobody died, so it's okay, I'm 100% sure Orban worked hard for every forint of his money.

Okay, this encounter has quickly escalated from "weird but harmless" to "borderline concerning", as I have no idea how the flying, theoretical, peer-reviewed *fuck* I have a website with a predominantly English-speaking audience, asking an English speaker, in English, if they're writing in English.
