Ancient DNA evidence supports the idea that T. Pallidum was endemic in the Americas, and came to Europe with Columbus, bottlenecked then spread outwards with European expansions and human trafficking as the syphilis we see today

Association, NOT causation. Read with great care. Infection is a major cause of preterm labour or congenital malformation. Infection is treated with antibiotics. Therefore the two are associated. Like plaster casts with broken bones.

Further updates from the Africa CDC on the Mystery Malady in Panzi, Kwango Province, DRC. 32 deaths and 527 cases, with most cases and deaths in children. Testing so far has only identified existing concerns - malaria and malnutrition, but further testing needed to rule out novel infections.

#IPwD Disability is also not necessarily a fixed, visible state. I don’t need a wheelchair, but I can’t queue for long. I can walk to the train, but give me that damn seat when I get there! I can work hard, but have to rest more.
Look, think, and be kind. And make your conferences available online!
#IDPwD It's International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

We have a insightful range of learning to support healthcare workers, starting with the Learning Disabilities Toolkit from @drlizherrieven.bsky.social: tinyurl.com/rcemLDToolkit
