Apocalypse not quite yet:

Yesterday the global surface temperature dropped dramatically after breaching 2.0°C over the pre-industrial average for the first time on Nov. 18th. The temperature is now back to 1.9°C and is forecast to fall even further over the coming days.

The August 2023 CERES data just came in and the 36 month running mean for the Earth Energy Imbalance (EEI) just hit a new record high, at 1.66 Watts/m². That's the same as about 13.5 Hiroshima bombs per second in excess Earth heating over the last 3 years.

This graphic shows the average Earth energy imbalance for the first 8 months of the year, from 2001 through 2023.

It's just not getting hotter, the rate Earth is heating up is accelerating, now more than 4 times faster than 20 years ago.
