Morning coffee and pondering how to beat @geordiegamer.bsky.social at PC Engine Galaga 88. Listening to @bbcradio3bot.bsky.social Unwind channel and they played an obscure classical ballet piece. But I recognised it as from the opening of #Aliens when Ripleys ship is found. "There goes our Salvage."

Where beat em ups are still a thing. And where bizarre puzzle games still enthrall us. How much I would love to see a new Virtua Tennis or a Ridge Racer, a Final Fight, a Gradius and a R-Type. And a multiplayer Pac Man. These are the Things Dreams Are Made Of....2/2

Today I am thinking about an alternative gaming world. Where Japan still dominates. Where the latest hardware isnt a PC. But is seen in Arcades. Where Namco Capcom SNK and Irem are at the top of their game. Where the best driving games are from Namco and AM2. 1/2

New idea for a TV Show. "Wash That Dog" - celebs must select a dog they have never met then given 10 mins to wash it. Points scored for how least destroyed and filthy the bathroom is afterwards.

I always enjoy reading what Terry Gilliam has to say about anything. Also can sit and listen to James Cameron talk all day long. His 1hr retrospective for Vanity Fair was great.

Look, it's not like they're paying me extra for this, but if you buy one game this week, or ever again, make it Wreckreation.

Here's BlackPanthaa loving it, and we all know he's not an easy man to please.

I do find it sad that a game like this would never be made today. Because a lot of gaming revolves around 3D shooting and/ storytelling. Personally I have never played a game for its Story. And "playing for a high score" is seemingly something from yesteryear.

For those of us of a certain age games like Irem's 1987 coin-op R-Type were just really influential. 38yrs later and I am still drawn to this game. Seeing it running on the PC Engine was really mind blowing. At the time we all dreamed of having games like OutRun or Space Harrier at home.

For some reason I am playing Doom. On 32X. Which I never had. Remember playing the fine 32X Virtua Racing back at Acclaim London HQ with Chris Hadley. Hmm that will be THIRTY years ago this month then...

Has a simple Progression. Has the Midway/ EA Big 'larger than life' vibe. Reminds me of what Project Velocity aka Trickstyle was aiming for on DC. It is 25 yrs later and I still detest the name btw..

The Indy game lost my interest. I wanted Indiana Nathan Drake Jones instead. 1st person and the run speed did not suit the IP IMHO. Cancelled GamePass and bought a lot of cheap games in the Xbox Sale.

Currently playing FM8 Indiana Jones and Red Dead 360

Ploughing on with the rather excellent @motorsport.forza.net 8 - to think we came from Namco's "Pole Position" or Geoff Crammond's "Revs" to arrive at this. Feels like a real "Tomorrow's World" moment. Be interesting to see if it arrives on PlayStation. I much prefer it to Grab Turismo.
