An odd frustration they don't often bring up in the parenting manual: your kid ages out of a franchise just in time for it to explode (or re-explode) in popularity—movies, events, merch—all of which your kid is now JUST too old for.

Upside: I don't have to subject myself to the Minecraft movie.

"JonBenet Ramsay was in space this whole time" was not a twist I saw coming.

I love people who put a "I Bought This Before I Knew Elon Was Crazy" sticker on their Tesla. A Swastika with an asterisk is still a Swastika.

A decade of unremitting stress, a lifetime of poor substance choices, a shitty diet, and the bugbear of genetics have led my hair to begin thinning. In the interest of maintaining the dignity I've got left I'm tempted to get ahead of it and just shave my entire head. People with hair loss: weigh in.

Look. A handful of you know I do this show called comPOSERS, and it's very unserious and we don't promote it at all so there's no bluesky, but look, I'm excited we're doing it again, so here's me and my idiot friends talking about a Jon Batiste score in a fun movie. composerspod.com/saturday-nig...

@adamtodbrown.bsky.social happy birthday sir! Despite the general state of everything I hope you find some time for yourself today. Thanks for your service, as always.

Remember that scene from Back to the Future II where Old Marty is in his office and goes "turn on channel seven, twenty-six, one hundred and forty two, and purple camel" or whatever, and nine TVs turn on, all with the volume maxed, playing totally discordant imagery? That's TikTok, right? And reels?

Look, you have every right to fear authoritarians, but can we pause for just one second and also acknowledge how corny these motherfuckers are? Dipshits, jerking one another off over how clever they are for using number combinations to dogwhistle to other dipshits. My *actual teen* is less cringe.

Reminiscence on the 2nd anniversary of drying myself out:

One time I was so anxious about having an established podcaster on my show that I drank to "calm myself" and ruined what could have been a good episode & relationship.

Nobody who tells you alcohol makes you better is your friend.

Gotta hand it to the Plain White Tees: I can no longer read "hey there" followed by a three-syllable word without internally sing-asking what it's like in New York City.

Look I can't do anything worthwhile in this climate so instead I sit here thinking about how someone could do an acoustic cover of Black Flag's "Slip It In" called "Slip It Out: Black Flag Unplugged" featuring a Weird Al-esque parody of Black Coffee entitled "Caffeinated Milk" and that's all I got 😟

I'm starting to feel an awful lot like Keanu Reeves in the first act of The Matrix.

This article says a few things:

1) Kid Rock is just there for the LOLs, bawditabawing while Rome burns.

2) I wish the Twisted Brown Trucker Band didn't have any part of this.

3) "Kendrick turned DEI into an IED" is the best line he's ever written, and it wasn't that good.

I know it's a slippery slope to suggest being licensed to be a parent, so I don't think it's a good idea, but there are people for whom a cursory glance at their lives and choices is sufficient to find their aptitude in that arena deeply lacking, and I wish kids didn't end up with them for parents.

Is anyone else past the point of taking certain things seriously? I know everything is deadly serious right now, but watching the foundational pillars of the society I was raised to believe would endure forever utterly crumble has made it hard for me to worry about my credit debt, you know?

The flood of national pride I'm seeing all over socials is well and good, but let's not get so wrapped up in our "standing on guard for thee" that we don't notice when we're standing shoulder to shoulder with Ontario Proud or whatever. /1

Nothing like a good old-fashioned *checks notes* trade war with light invasion overtures to make you cling to your corporate gig out of genuine fear of what this will do to the job market. One day I hope to be free of the fallout of other people's stupid fucking decisions. Not looking promising.

It's a new platform so it's a new chance to talk about stuff I do! This week on #Kruegerecords I'm joined by @travisclark.bsky.social to talk about Queens of the Stone Age. It's part one of a deep dive into QOTSA, Palm Desert, stoner rock and an era I genuinely miss. www.patreon.com/posts/kruege...
