Step 1. Expand access to charter schools so more students enroll in them
Step 2. Expand access to private schools so more students enroll in them
Step 3. Blame public school districts for falling enrollment numbers and threaten to convert them into charters.

Legislation would dissolve IPS, four other school districts. Then charters take over
The proposed Indiana House Bill 1136 would dissolve Indianapolis Pubic Schools, Gary Community Schools, Tri-Township Schools, Union Schools, and Cannelton City Schools.

President-elect Donald Trump has promised sweeping changes to federal agencies, but there’s one he wants to do away with altogether: the Department of Education.
Trump pledged to close the Education Department. What would that mean?
The Department of Education provides about 10% of K-12 funding, enforces civil rights laws and runs the $1.6 trillion student loan program.

Mike Dukakis ran against the member of a yankee political aristocracy; Al Gore and John Kerry ran against the next generation of that aristocracy. Obama ran against a hedge fund guy, while Clinton ran against a guy who lived in a gold house.
But they were the elites!

I went back into the office yesterday and, partly due to an increasing level of sleep deprivation, was reallyyyy close to needing to call a crisis line

I just thought about all the folks younger than me who are scared, with less support, so I reached into my coping skill toolbox and got through it.

I was quite shocked to see that Florida, plowed by 4 hurricanes in a row, voted against climate action, but this may partially explain it. It's scary to contemplate the consequences, but (maybe not surprisingly) it's easier for ppl to deny that they are in trouble than solving the problem...

this has been the defense for the first six months of this war but it’s not going to work anymore. the disproportionality is much too stark for even people somewhat sympathetic to israel to believe the genocide in gaza is retaliation for one terrorist attack.

At this point I'm willing to pay black market prices for vanilla NadaMoo. I don't know what's going on with this brand but it's the best coconut milk-based ice cream I've had, and the one store nearby that is supposed to have vanilla did not.
