There are no rules, but you break them at your peril.

You probably remember me from Twitch, Heyzap, EA, Deloitte, SDSU, or DVC. 🇦🇫
it's a win win either way. Just enjoying the mediocre QB play.

Prop 13 taxes is effectively an enormous tax on *change* - of use, of ownership, etc. it’s the ultimate conservative tax law and thus benefits the noble born landowners (especially since low rates can be inherited!)

Brock Purdy?

I don’t see why not. I think Scott is the favorite but he has his fair share of haters who will rally around a viable candidate. I expect Pelosi to endorse Connie. It’ll be a fight imo

Why build new housing when the local community has so many thoughtful and quaint landlords you can rent from? Little mold builds character

The landed gentry who really want the Bay Area to shrink in population so they can have more parking but swear they aren’t conservative

"If they could guarantee the National Guard came in and all they did was arrest addicts/homeless and then declared victory I think half our elected officials would be thrilled."

Is the implication that the electorate doesn't? I don't but it's naive to think SF voters do't want some version of this.

Pretty sure it was the Bellaire Tower at the top of Russian Hill (1101 Green St). San Francisco residents are beyond parody.

First real test of how much SFPD actually respects his leadership. His relationship with them has been tight but this is going to push it.

This explanation applies to so many topics.

Is it expected to die?

I think I’m glad I decided to focus on saving for a down payment vs waiting for leftist to build social housing in CA.

The American approach to funding transit is just about annual subsidies from budget battles and farebox recovery, whereas we should transition to a more Asian and European approach where transit agencies get most of their revenue not from fares but from economic activity they own at their stops

Nasty disrespect Geno took the hawks to the playoffs.

If you didn’t lock in a cheap spot during the 2020-2023 dip good luck 🫡

This is extremely disappointing. I’m an Afghan American who was lucky to grow up in the Bay Area and have access to schools/job market here. ~8M can live here now. More should be able to. I don’t care if it’s social or market but anything blocking more people making a life here is a moral failure

I've long felt that Prop 13 reform for non-primary residence paired with income/sales tax reduction/reform would be very popular with the CA electorate.

Love Chicago tbh might be the next closest thing but just don’t think it is on the level of NYC London Tokyo etc. those cities are just a different beast entirely
July 26, 2025 at 2:29 AM
NYC is the only world class city in America. Everywhere else is too entrenched in car and single family infrastructure to ever achieve similar status. It’s just the sad reality.

Sadly I think there's plenty of room to fall still.

Breed should be criticized for withholding the Prop I funds. I don't know why she did it. She isn't in office anymore either.

I hope the new era is better bc the last 15 years of me living in the city has been very disheartening as someone who is very left leaning and wants to fund a strong social safety net + social services.

he ran for mayor and the progressives lined up to support him sweeping his flaws under the rug.

Any criticism for our former D3 supervisor who talked a big game but spent most of his time brown nosing cops, business owners and not building social housing in his district?
