sections have been upgraded to deal with hypersonic threats. The changes to the TDD (Target Detonation Device) aka fuse, are needed in order to deal with increased closing velocities the missile will encounter against hypersonics. While the other upgrades involving removal/updates to the Plate 3A.

The test involved USS Pinckney (DDG-91) which acted as a tracking/observing vessel. During the test, the USS Pinckney also carried out a simulated firing of an SM-6 IAU using live tracking data of the MRBM target.
