No shock here: The Guardian notes several phrases in the U.S. peace proposal to Ukraine appear to be directly translated from Russian.

One standout is the line “It is expected that Russia will not invade neighboring countries,” a clunky English phrasing mirroring the Russian “ожидается.”

Literally one of the greatest soft power brands on planet earth driven into the ground by successive British governments that embrace failure, decline and irrelevance.

Changing the terms of a trade deal because of an advertisement, can we agree that's wildly authoritarian?

I am sorry, but if you cancel a game because you are worried about 'what would the racists think?', you need to think hard about yourself.

Assassin's Creed game canceled to avoid racist backlash
The game would have cast players as a former enslaved Assassin battling the Ku Klux Klan and other adversaries in America's Reconstruction era.

A chance find in the library, I am loving this book, 'The citadel' about a GP in Welsh mining town.
The book in part inspired the NHS, published in the late 1930.
My friends the doctors will have much to sympathise with the main character.
I also think it would make great A level or above material.

It's always great to see former students, but it's even better when it is former students you really appreciated while you were teaching them.

An European University Cyprus and Wharton graduate, Loizos Konstantinou is doing great in the US, even creating a tight 12 minute routine of stand up!

Today is marked as suicide prevention day.
September is a difficult month for most of us.
Check in with those around you and don't be too hard on your self, if you can.

So gifting a plane to Trump gives you enough leverage to be called while your nation is attacked.
There is a lesson there for those who seek to please Trump...

New sause unlocked: fishy zesty mayo. Add Achovies with olive oil, lemon juice and lemon zest to a classic mayo (egg yolk, rapeseed oil, mustard, salt and pepper).

It really elevates the salty umami flavour of food.
Here served on a pomegranate and pickle coleslaw, and some curried shrip.

UCL are going back to all in person exams. There is no other solution to this problem currently available.
It's not the biggest problem education is facing but at some point the preference of parents and students for coursework and fewer exams is going to collide with the fact that AI probably necessitates a big return to in-person exams
Shocked (not).

The interesting question to me — and no one who’s writing about him now seems to agree with it, but whatever, I’m right — is *why* he was revived as a public figure. Because his popularity clearly isn’t organic, at least at its roots.
