Literally crucial thread;
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

“Helping potential and actual gun violence victims is a bridge you could have crossed a long time ago, and you chose not to. You pray in order not to feel culpable in horrendous acts of violence. You pray in order to feel good. And for this, I say: fuck you.”

Because of course there’s a precedent
The right-wing backlash against #Superman this week got me thinking: Has this happened before?

That led to the discovery of these headline — from April 1940, when the official newspaper of the SS took umbrage at the comic book hero and ridiculed its creators.

Since I saw that photo of him swimming in the shit water, I’ve been thinking he has strong “Acolyte of Nurgle” vibes. Glad to see I’m in good company there!

An observation/random thought on the Aus election; I never really got a sense of Dutton’s humanity until his concession speech. I know my media consumption habits make me a tough nut to crack there, but that’s maybe something for whoever ends up as LNP leader might want to think about
