The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

Why so many fellow economists are still using X? The network is really so important it does not matter who the platform belongs to?

Want to solve heterogeneous-agent models with multiple endogenous state variables, say a multi-asset HANK model?

@soroushs.bsky.social and @patricksecon.bsky.social developed a much-improved finite-difference scheme for such problems: github.com/SSabet/Neste...

Good example
I had someone recommend that I restart my X account, which had ~100k followers, to “gain even more reach.”

Nope. I deleted the account altogether, and am not going back.

The site is unsafe, doesn’t respect its community, and doesn’t meet any reasonable professional standards.

Staying here.

I don't see economists leaving X "en masse". Many Bluesky accounts opened, true. Many people (especially the most followed) still regularly posting on X, also true. I guess network effects (aka followers) are a powerful device against leaving. X will thrive as Whatsapp despite being the "bad" app?

Just back from giving a talk to 2nd year students on how to approach research, how to write a paper. Abhijit was coming after me (good thing he didn't go first, tough act to follow!)

Here are my slides...
