Co-director @dacemoglumit.bsky.social explains why the centralized nature of the social media ecosystem, which puts an enormous amount of power in the hands of a few platforms, is a threat to democracy — and why AI may be headed in the same direction.

Co-director @dacemoglumit.bsky.social lays out two possible futures for agentic AI: autonomous AI agents that act on behalf of humans, or AI advisors that support human decision-makers.

Which path we take will have far-reaching implications for human agency, inequality, and the labor market.

When that happens, the US financial account will start worsening and the current account will have to improve.

A victory for Trump!
April 8, 2025 at 4:16 PM
Trump’s tariffs, attacks on allies and NATO, and policies shaking the core of US institutions will make US assets less safe, more uncertain and less attractive.
April 8, 2025 at 4:16 PM
As every textbook teaches us, the current account deficit is equal to the financial account surplus. The US has a current account deficit in part because its assets (treasuries, private debt and equity) are attractive to foreigners – largely because of their safety and liquidity.
April 8, 2025 at 4:16 PM
Could this moment be a prelude to Trump's Pyrrhic victory on the US current deficit?

March 28, 2025 at 8:33 PM
March 28, 2025 at 8:33 PM
March 28, 2025 at 8:33 PM
March 28, 2025 at 8:33 PM
March 28, 2025 at 8:33 PM

March 28, 2025 at 8:33 PM
Türkiye'nin Avrupalı ortaklarına, demokratik kurumlarındaki bozulmayı tersine çevirmeye çalışacağına dair sinyaller göndermesi gerekiyor (mevcut durumda ülke, demokrasinin kötüleşmesi açısından dünyada en kötü performansa sahiplerden biri durumundadır).
March 28, 2025 at 8:33 PM
