Following up on the low quality of Telegram spam protection I've revisited other ways to serve notifications from some services and happy to report that "ntfy" has evolved enough to consider it a worthy replacement and Telegram is out. So easy to set up ntfy in k8s environment!

I'll admit, I was skeptical when they said Gemini was just like a bunch of PhDs. But I gotta admit they nailed it.

I am so old school that I paid for sublime text editor since I can't stand all these modern GUI editors that weigh too much or want to help a bit too much

An astronomy professor colleague of mine once relayed trying to explain to his students why it was important that they actually write their class reports themselves. “The point is not to teach ME about neutron stars,” he said.
Even accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.

Standardizing some dev stuff, figured out this suits me best in 2025:
- jetify devbox for db/tool/language dependencies
- remake for build (if a must only)
- tmux to start all the dev server(s)
- modd+devd if a website
- "just" to run commands
No more weird targets in Makefile

For some reason, unclear to me immediately, we were in this flow of thinking that Jira was the way to go for a while now.
I proposed to try Linear... and maan, what a change of perspective: it's so much better. One actually *wants to write down* the details of work.

After many months I got some motivation to look again at some of my projects.
As an exercise, I am finishing migration from vue 2 to htmx of my main hobby project. The beginning was hard, but I think it's getting easier now, and the app seems to be easier to maintain than an SPA. No regrets so far

I bit the bullet and finally bought a mini PC for my home lab. This lets me decommission the (10y) old Intel i7-3540 laptop, and double the total capacity of the lab. Proxmox-driven k3s cluster will be the 1st use case.

Spring Boot and all other standard frameworks are good if you are doing standard stuff. They are not easy to debug. Latest trauma: blog.aleksic.dev/short-note-w...
Short Note: when Spring Boot and Privoxy don't like each other
I figured out after full day of work a very peculiar behavior in Spring Boot and wanted to write this one down since it was a pretty annoying one. Let’s say you are: using Spring Boot and need to make HTTP client connections (using RestTemplate or R...
