A view I hold that people really do not like but that I will not change is that the massive asymmetry of reaction enabled by social media in which there might be one person and (literally) thousands of haters is bad and potentially trauma-inducing.

Yeah, there's good content here but growth FEELS like it's heavily slowed, and the reputation Bluesky has for harassing and bullying centrist and centre-left types is surely one factor.
people get mad at me when I say this but it's a Serious Problem for bluesky's long-term viability that the userbase actively tries to bully people they don't like off here

Yeah, there's good content here but growth FEELS like it's heavily slowed, and the reputation Bluesky has for harassing and bullying centrist and centre-left types is surely one factor.

Good lord, almost 10K likes and reposts in support of revoking citizenship from someone who obtained it legally (by birth). Never mind the law or the Charter, he's a terrible person so eff him. How is this different from Trumpism? Either the rule of law is for everyone, or it's not the rule of law.

The third party blocklists are particularly bad for this. I've been inadvertently blocked by at least one person I know personally, apparently because they subscribed to a blocklist of people who follow bad people.

Mr. Angus, respectfully, why are you doing this? You know there's no legal means to revoke Musk's citizenship, and that changing the law to do so would breach the Charter—because you and your party rightly voted against it a decade ago. Those signing the petition may not know better, but you do.

In the fight against aspiring fascists engaged in retribution against actual or perceived political opposition, including denials of citizenship, our best weapon is... apparently politically motivated retribution by means of a denial of citizenship.
