So yeah... Trump has once again posted about imposing tariffs on the film industry. "I will be imposing a 100% Tariff on any and all movies made outside the United States."

Let's revisit our piece on how that won't exactly make Hollywood great again...
Trump’s Tariffs Won’t Make Hollywood Great Again, but There’s a Plan That Can
President Donald Trump says US movie production is “dying.” There’s something that could help, but it isn’t a 100 percent tariff on foreign-produced films.

Musk as Edison of our time? This is an opportunity to remind everyone that Edison was also a total troll. He fucked with movie folks claiming to have invented/patented everything from the celluloid to the cameras and projectors. Spoiler: he didn't but had money and power to make it look like he did.
Everyone knows this happened right before Musk started privately backing Trump for president, yes?

Revised version of our paper with Bo Cowgill and Andrea Prat just out.

We document how mergers in the US are followed by large and persistent increases in lobbying activity. Firms with market power also try to gain political power.
