Filing a mining claim could save the public lands you love. This bill sells off every Americans birthright. For $274 you can gain exclusive rights to all the hard rock minerals. In this thread I will show you how you can file a mining claim. 1/?

Looks line the main use will be as a data collector so that Big Brother will know what you, the wearer, are doing at all times.

Pretty sure that was a specific goal of Project 2025.

Ol' Strom spent almost all of his final term in a room in Walter Reed Medical Center, pretty much unable to perform the duties of his office. Once or twice each congressional term, they'd load him into an ambulance, drive him to the Capitol and bring him to his desk in a wheelchair to cast a vote.
It pains me there are younguns who weren’t there to see what an absolute piece of shit Storm Thurmond was his whole life, stinking up the Senate and America like a turd in a punch bowl until 2003. 2003.

Well, y'know, sometimes you rake the muck. Sometimes the muck just messages you to join its unsecured Signal group.
…Jeffrey Goldberg?! We’re talking about Jeffrey Goldberg here like he’s some muckraker deep in the trenches
Reporter: Can you share how your information about war plans was shared with a journalist?

Hegseth: So you are talking about a deceitful and highly discredited so-called journalist who has made a profession of peddling hoaxes

Now, a Congresscritter needs to stand in the well of the House and call Nancy Mace a dick, as well as Elon Musk and Ed Martin.
After DOGE hearing, where @robertgarcia.bsky.social called Musk a "dick," Politico wrote "Dems fail to land viral moment at DOGE hearing"

Since then, Nancy Mace wants to censure Garcia for calling Musk a dick and asshole acting DC US Atty reminded us that Garcia called Musk a dick

keep it up!
So if you criticize Elon Musk, Trump’s DOJ will send you this letter. Members of Congress must have the right to forcefully oppose the Trump Administration. I will not be silenced.

These people have read "1984" and they are practicing for working at the Ministry of Truth.
"they're banning the word 'racism' because they're white supremacists" would take a tenth a time and be a hundred times clearer about what's happening

It's Super Bowl weekend. That's not a national holiday? They have big TVs! And mass quantities of snacks. (Also, too, they have eggs.)

It was a lot funnier when it was originally published, in the soon-to-be "before times."

A reporter should ask the guy "How much are you being paid to tell this story? And did they pay you in advance?"
Surely he'll have one of the Walz Stolen Valor guys.

I'm reminded of the fact that when Columbia's Hamilton Hall and Low Library were occupied in 1968, the spokesperson for Students For a Democratic Society was Josephine Drexel Duke. Yeah, those Drexels and those Dukes.

My first summer here in South Carolina (1997) a baby died while its mother was in the casino playing the video slots (only type of casino then allowed in SC). Casinos were closed a couple of years later when the state supreme court determined that all gambling was illegal in the state.
Have we reached the "gambling is a public health crisis" stage yet or does someone have to die first?

Attention @paulwartenberg.bsky.social This would be right up your alley.
OK, question. Do libraries always pay list price? Or do taxpayers get any sort of break?

I ask b/c I pretty much never pay full freight for anything for myself that I can find discounted, and there are few things I need badly enough to not wait for discounts.

Well, yeah. Spinning of a couple of factories reduces the cost of maintenance of those facilities plus the number of full time employees. Reducing the number of FTEs of the parent company to goose quarterly earnings - and executive bonuses - is always a winner. But you knew that.
Starting to suspect that spinning off Boeing's Wichita & Tulsa plants as a separate entity was actually a terrible decision indicative of an unhealthy corporate culture
well it’s either that they hired .05% more diverse employees or that they’ve been cutting corners from the top down on every design & production standard to save a few bucks polishing nonsensical internal metrics that look good in a powerpoint on quarterly earnings calls. real mystery
