I'm a senior lecturer of IT, used to be an entrepreneur and a software engineer. Here's I'm just going to post about movies I've liked, but also I would rather talk about weird indie films.

He/him, but as a Finn, I don't really care, so any/all is fine.
Once a therapist told me I'm the most adult person she had ever met.

Since I'm bad at taking compliments, I didn't say this out aloud, but I wondered whether that was because of the company she kept.

Looking around and thinking this really needs some cleaning up, so I better get to it, but instead I'm here looking at bsky.

(Whether the thing that needs cleaning up is my apartment or some government or some other system is up to your imagination, dear reader.)

I mean, I could take some of the sympathy I have for children with cancer or all the people starving around the world, or the people hit by Tesla vehicles because of his negligence or the people injured working in his factories and give it to him, but I won't.

I'm trying to find sympathy for him, but I seem to be right out right now. Sorry.

Had to check the lists to see who this is about and it turns out that there was a Mark Twain book on the Military Leader list at #6.

And I guess this was about Nuzzi?

As a very white person, I can only say, "Okay. So?"

Also, an addition: Finland (where I'm from) there hasn't been a peacetime death sentence since 1825. Yet, Finland is considered very safe by basically all metrics.

Mathematically, if this really works, why is there that 1-2% for every generation? Weren't they supposed to be weeded out? Why do they still keep reappearing every generation? Well, assuming any of the facts are correct, which you shouldn't.

The only one I can think of is a nature documentary so obscure it doesn't seem to be on IMDb called On Wings of the Raven, which was shot in the forests and archipelago around my home town of Vaasa, Finland.

There must be others, but I just can't think of any.

And yes, I know ChatGPT is not going to destroy the world in the sense they were talking about, but they still seemed to believe it and did it anyway.
November 14, 2025 at 11:26 AM
I would say obviously. I guess nukes could kind of compete, but mostly just as a matter of having some kind of a comparison. But when you say "okay, this might destroy the world, but I might make a few bucks, so I'll try to make a few bucks", I would say ChatGPT wins.

As a teacher, I wonder about this a lot. That day has come and gone for me a long time ago, but to me aging has been (mostly) just positive. At that point I had a good job and I owned an apartment. I was pretty set financially. Can the younger generations experience it in the same way as I did?

It's hard to say whether this is supposed to be a joke or not, but no, it's not true. Sure, there might be many of them we don't know about, but there's definitely ones who are genuine. I mean, they might be shadowbanned, but there are actual leftists on there and DNC would never pay them.

Oh, did I miss something?

I really should remember the name or the author (I'm very bad at this), but there was a very interesting paper about a year ago about how you can insert "secret agents" into models.

The problem is that the technology behind these services is such that it can never know exactly where the information is from. It's all just obfuscated in tokens and probabilities.

Not too long ago I stumbled on an "ethical AI writing tool". The ethical part? It tried to hide the plagiarism better.

Just to blow the Finnish horn a little by adding that Gandhi actually copied peaceful resistance from Finland, where our great grandparents decided to say no to forced drafts for the Russo-Japanese War (in 1905). This lead us to having our own parliament (with full electoral right to women, BTW).

Personally, I'm not ordering anything from the US until the tariff situation is finally settled. So, maybe 2029...

Here's a fun story. In Germany, people of an apartment building were kept up by someone ringing their doorbells repeatedly. They assumed it was some kind of a prank, but cameras and motion detectors weren't picking up anything.

Turns out, it was a snail just minding it's own business.

Prime minister of Nepal resigned in the face of protests against government corruption. That's a little bit of progress.
