Growing up with a Dad from India and a Mum from Cork, as a British Asian Irish Catholic, I very much recognise the era Akeela recalled. The p-word was used indiscriminately by racists in the '80s who didn't know or care about who was Muslim or Hindu, Sikh or Christian, or none of those.

Anyone else feeling quite bogged down by the divisive rhetoric that has dominated the start of 2025?
It’s deeply depressing seeing far right personalities and sympathisers dominate the public conversation on child sexual exploitation. Unfortunately, I’m not surprised that some conservative politicians are now using this issue as a weapon to attack the PM and Labour. There is no regard for victims.

The revelations in the thread below are deeply concerning. Whilst we are distracted by Elon Musk’s dangerous and outrageous tweets/posts (amplifying extreme conspiracies). Real world extremists and terrorists are organising to commit acts of terror to undermine democracy in the US and beyond.
