Missing my canine soulmate, Kenai, or "Keeny Bopper," gone now for over two years, but continues to inspire my life. This was at Chena Lake in May 2017.
Amazing, 53 years ago this month. I still remember so well the night launch, and our last trip to the moon. What a special time to be a teenager. So much hope and excitement, amidst a world and country of much despair.

I tell you what, I took calc-based Physics 1 "for fun" this term. Hard for an old fart mind. I learned a WHOLE lot more from YouTube and ChatGPT than from the UAF course. Not criticizing the course, but in my case, I'm going to learn Physics 2 all on my own, with my own resources this spring.

I like the multi-model forecasts available in Windy. These are for Fairbanks. Note that the bottom three forecasts have shorter duration, so they awkwardly shift to GFS or ECMWF.

Looks like interesting changes. Short term up and down.

What do particles have to do with the #BigBang? How is the world of the smallest particles structured? And what do we know about the fundamental forces? The world of #particlephysics is breathtaking and fascinating. 🤯 www.mpg.de/25824544/bas...

A Tale of Two Thermometers. The Ambient on top of the pole is reporting a balmier and more reasonable -25F. Maybe it's a razor sharp inversion? :) Univ West area in Fairbanks #alaskasky

Wow, I've watched a lot of geology documentaries, but this one has some wonderful animations on the evolution of the Rocky Mountains, and help to understand so much of the detail you see when you roam those parts. Highly recommend if you're interested -- youtube.com/watch?v=TGnDsZwAtRY

Was just looking at one of my all-time favorite videos. Up at Eagle Summit (north of Fairbanks) in 2014 with my canine soulmate, Kenai, just doing "the life thang." #Alaskasky

It was a right fine day for trail running north of University of Alaska Fairbanks campus. Well, actually, it would have been a right finer day with some snow cover. #Alaskasky

It was a right fine autumn Sunday morning for the Chena Ridge / Chena Pump loop above the Tanana (and Chena) River in #Fairbanks #Alaskasky. On peaceful old fart Sunday mornings like this, I like to contrast with Sunday Morning Coming Down of decades ago --

It was a right fine early autumn afternoon up on Chena Ridge, east of #Fairbanks #Alaska. In the bike-less picture, University of Alaska Fairbanks is the set of buildings on the left.

A picture my wife just took looking south and west from University of Alaska Fairbanks. A wee bit of smoke and fire out there. #Alaskasky #Alaskans #Fairbanks

It was a right fine morning to run 7 miles of trails and roads around University of Alaska Fairbanks. That's Smith Lake in the foreground, Ester Dome in the background, and a wee bit of ice on trails.

Right purty day for solitude on the Savage Alpine Trail at Denali National Park. #Alaska #Alaskasky

Nothing really special, yet, it's so special - that most precious time of the day. For well over 55 years I've treasured that solitary time of day, full of newness and hope, when one can experience the transition from dark to light. This is top of Skyline/Skyridge in Winter City USA, looking east.

Another day of skiing Denali Park Road, nobody else but a couple of park dog teams. Winter is amazing here.

Looking east from near Clear Space Force Station, Alaska. Watching airflow from south to north on lee side of Alaska Range.

Enjoying University of Alaska Fairbanks ski trails. Not much solitude today, though. Temps finally above 0F seem to bring out the restless folks.

Always love those precious winter days when I get the Denali Park Road all to myself #AlaskaSky
