It’s certainly a coherent argument, but Biden was able to leverage an asymmetric power dynamic to his advantage with Mexico while Starmer will be in the opposite position with France/EU (UK as the weaker party). If he could barely get 1in/1out, how will he get a deal with almost unlimited returns?

The left and the groups aren't gonna like it, but this does seem to be the sensible center on reforming asylum law. Allowing anyone to show up and claim asylum is problematic in a world with ubiquitous cheap travel and social media-facilitated human trafficking.
