Anyone else think that shadow Home Secretary Chris Philip is an utter twat? He insists that the Rwanda scheme would have stopped the immigration boats instantly. The Conservative scheme was never intended to send more than a couple of hundred people to Rwanda, and at enormous expense.

The IRA, like Hamas, committed some appalling atrocities but the British response was relatively restrained. They did not invoke a genocide policy against the Irish, yet they seem happy to support Israel's against Gaza.

British people should take pride in those protesting against Israel. But the media and politicians demonize people calling out a genocide.

Trump's latest Supreme Court victory is a tragic failure of American democracy. I'm at a loss as to how decent Americans can stop this march towards dictatorship. The obvious hope, and it's a tenuous one, is that enough law and order personnel refuse to carry out orders that are unconstitutional.
