Luontodirektiivin mukaisen suojelutasoarvioinnin tuoreet tulokset osoittavat, että laaja-alaiset metsäluontotyypit - luonnonmetsät, lehdot, harjumetsät ja puustoiset suot - ovat huonossa tilassa. Luonnonmetsiä ja puustoisiin soihin kuuluvia uhanalaisia korpia tarvitaan enemmän, jotta niiden eliöyhteisöt säilyvät pitkällä aikavälillä. Suomen ympäristökeskuksen (Syke) koordinoima suojelutasoarviointi antaa eväitä kansalliseen ennallistamissuunnitteluun, jota tarvitaan luontotyyppien tilan parantamiseksi ja EU:n ennallistamisasetuksen tavoitteiden saavuttamiseksi.
