And I guess it could be that the 8 wanted to see just where negotiations went, and are ready to abort if they go nowhere. And it gives the Dems a chance to say, "See? We tried."
I guess we'll find out (after a tense week).

And on top of that, it's not as if the proceedings are being released to the public. The judge, and just the judge, gets to
review them. Where is the harm to the government if that is what happens?

Oh, I get that. But when has Trump cared about technicalities? While it would be nice if it works, what if Trump just orders the person in charge of SNAP to quit paying? It's not as if he has a reputation for religiously following the law.

I'm a bit unclear, still. (But thank you for this!!!) What if the Senate just goes and votes on the bill that the House sent over. No amendments, no discussion, and thus no cloture required. Would that violate Senate rules or something?

The problem is, why do you think that SNAP being funded will stop Trump from using it as a weapon anyways?

So, how many fucking crazy sociopathic ghouls have you negotiated with?
(Not meant as a slam--it sounds like it has been way too many. 😉

What is more important, is how did THEY see this ending?
For me, it was continuing until something breaks, but not knowing what that would exactly be. But once it became a real crisis, see what needed to be done.

Yeah. Remove Schumer as minority leader, and start removing committee assignments.
What this says is: We could have done this 40 days ago, not put you all through that hell, and have left you in a different hell.

The question that comes to me (and I don't know if it counts as "public opinion") is: You could have done this 40 days ago and saved us all this shit. Why didn't you?

Can you at least remove Schumer as the minority leader?

These are old, but I suspect would be new to you. (And they might be hard to find.) Retief books by Keith Laumer, and the Xanth series by Piers Anthony (particularly if you like awful puns).

My guess is that the heating and cooling of the (already defective) element caused a part of it to fall and short across itself.

I've read that the jury instructions required that the defendant "attempt[ed] to inflict bodily harm upon another, with the present ability to inflict bodily harm."
Which gave the jury leeway to decide that such a sandwich would not do so (particularly to a bullet-proof vest).
