That's officially the highest final ADT estimate ever in the Atlantic and I believe it is now the second highest of all time behind Patricia in 2015.

Strong winds in the Puget Sound area also supported by a 10-12 mb SEA-PDX gradient per SPC mesoanalysis and a leeside (of the Olympics) trough enhancing said gradient. Common feature in Pacific NW windstorms for W #wawx.

Really impressive radar signature with this potent low pressure system delivering a strong and damaging gale to the Puget Sound area right now. Sustained 41 mph winds with a 66 mph gust at the Tacoma Narrows Bridge #wawx.

Seeing this floating around regarding the House Appropriations bill re: fate of NOAA/research. Not sure if there are more details, but it looks like the cuts to NOAA in the upcoming House Appropriations bill will not be at the level of the initial request of the Trump admin.

You know, we always talk about the Euro being the standard for which other NWP models should strive for, but man this MCS/convective nonsense in it makes it almost unusable from a deterministic standpoint in the warm season a lot of the time. Just terrible handling of parameterized convection.

Somerset/London KY tornado from 5/16 confirmed as an EF4. I believe this is now the first year since 2011 to have two or more convective days (3/14 and 5/16) with multiple confirmed EF4+ tornadoes.

Debris is visible from the Somerset #kywx tornado from the KHTX radar (Huntsville AL) at more than 31k feet. This is very likely a violent tornado.

Everybody here talking about Thursday and Plains stuff this weekend into early next week and I'm just sitting here looking at Friday like it could be a widespread severe wx event for the Mid South/Ohio Valley. Strong flow/steep lapse rates/rich moisture overspreading a very large area.
