This headline is mind bogglingly terrible.
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

Lesser known on this day is the powerful 975 mb storm making landfall in Oregon in this satellite image that brought hurricane-like pressure tendencies/winds to the coast and 70+ mph gusts inland. The Fitzgerald storm was not the only tempest in the US this day.

Absolutely insane and incredibly illegal.
Breaking news: The Trump administration is sending messages to federal staff suggesting only those who are working during the government shutdown will be paid when it ends, despite a 2019 law that guarantees pay to furloughed employees, too.
Administration hints furloughed workers may not be paid after shutdown
Agencies are sending messages indicating that workers who are on the job will be paid when the government reopens — with no mention of those on furlough, despite a 2019 law protecting their wages.

The damage I’ve seen coming out of Western Jamaica from #Melissa is nothing short of catastrophic.
October 29, 2025 at 7:32 PM
Upshear convection in Melissa’s eyewall is absolutely exploding again. Near -90°C cloud tops and a huge increase in lightning.

It is so patently absurd that this guy got let go from his HURRICANE FORECASTING job because of some 16-20 year old right wing DOGE nutjob and Elon.

That's officially the highest final ADT estimate ever in the Atlantic and I believe it is now the second highest of all time behind Patricia in 2015.
October 28, 2025 at 2:17 AM
I don’t think it’s quite sunk in how crazy a storm holding for a day at 910 mb (or lower) in the Atlantic basin really is.

Strong winds in the Puget Sound area also supported by a 10-12 mb SEA-PDX gradient per SPC mesoanalysis and a leeside (of the Olympics) trough enhancing said gradient. Common feature in Pacific NW windstorms for W #wawx.

Well, that's quite the microwave presentation with #Melissa. Very well organized inner core.

Really impressive radar signature with this potent low pressure system delivering a strong and damaging gale to the Puget Sound area right now. Sustained 41 mph winds with a 66 mph gust at the Tacoma Narrows Bridge #wawx.

Um, is this not flat out admitting to the intent to commit murder?
Trump: I don't think we're gonna necessarily ask for a declaration of war. I think we're just gonna kill people. Okay? We're gonna kill them. They're gonna be, like, dead.

"So, Democrats have three words for this: no fucking way. It's literally life or death. We will not let Republicans blow up our health care system."
