Dead Silence (2007)

Happy couple Jamie and Lisa receive an unmarked package with a ventriloquist's dummy and instead of immediately burning it, decide to keep it.😒 Unsurprisingly, Lisa ends up dead and tongueless shortly after.

Happy Halloween!🎃 Since I'm currently reading Down There by Joris-Karl Huysmans. I decided that today's horror movie should be As Above, So Below (2014). The story is creepy, but that setting would’ve made anything scary.😱

Evil Dead Rise (2023)

We know enough about the ED franchise to know that this movie has a more serious tone. We liked most of it: Possessed Ellie was creepy as were the book + records; there was plenty of bloody violence; and the tension was high.😱

Just (re)watched: The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)

Yep, still spooky. Great atmosphere, all the weirdness surrounding the body was really creepy (the writing inside!), and of course, those damned ankle bells.😱

No horror movie today, but I'm writing a review of German streaming series Pauline (2024), and found 3 petitions from American Christians asking Disney not to stream it because it promotes satanism + casual sex to teens. Seriously?😂

Just watched: Host (2025)

It takes place in an all-girls reform school on a remote island that looks creepy even before Ing's Ghost Godmother starts sneaking around in the background + twisting people into bloody pretzels.😱

Little Witches (1996)

This is basically a cheaper version of The Craft (also from 1996). It uses Catholicism rather than paganism + it's considerably hornier. Jamie is as good as Nancy as the evil, power hungry witch, but Faith was no Sarah.

Recently watched: Wish Upon (2017)

It was better than I expected, but there was a lot of backstory missing about Clare's mother. What did she do? The list of previous owners of the obviously cursed box (seriously, just look at that thing😒) was way too short.

Most recent panel from our current WIP. The sex demons tried to do something different, but their timing wasn't the best. And yes, this is still the one with the pizzas. As we wrote in a previous post, it's a weird book.

Recently watched: The Diary (2024)

There are several spooky moments + the time twist was good. However, the identity of the culprit becomes pretty obvious. Then, when Olga starts trying to change things, it's all very predictable.

And here's the new cover for Lesson One: Vampires, Book 1 of our digital comic book series An Introduction to the Fine Art of Monster Slaying. (If anyone would like to check it out, there's a direct link to Kobo’s online shop in the reply)

This is the most recent finished panel from our current WIP.🙂 Poor Tim has to explain why he thought it was a good idea to become a monster slayer when he's a werewolf.

The Devil Conspiracy (2022)

This was never as entertaining as it could’ve been. It starts well enough, with Archangel Michael trapping Lucifer in Hell, and a sinister woman killing people with a big sword. But then it all starts going downhill.

We finally got to the final confrontation in our current WIP!🥳 We still haven't come up with a title and are having 2nd thoughts on the planned cover, but the heroes and villains are finally in the same place!

Nahual (2025)

While watching this Spanish-language #folkhorror movie, we kept thinking how much better it could’ve been. The story itself was good (after being scratched by a mad woman, Katia begins to turn into a deadly creature) and there was bloody violence.

Estela (2024)

This starts with a ghost girl looking for a family, moves to a grieving widow taking a break from reality, and ends with a kidnapper who takes children for possible occult ritual reasons. It's not an anthology - it's all 1 dull, disjointed story.

Cave did such a good job describing the creepy inn and its occupants that we found the ending a little disappointed. We had been wondering about the title, but Murgunstrumm, the character, ended up being gruesomely memorable.

Current read: Murgunstrumm by Hugh B. Cave

After escaping from the State Insane Asylum, Paul Hill sets out to prove to everyone that he's not mad. However, that means returning to the Grey Toad Inn and its innkeeper, Murgunstrumm...😱

The Amytiville Horror (1979)

This haunting was very chaotic. Flies + spooky voice for Father Delaney and cold + invisible friend + banging doors for the Lutz family. Oh, and a very big pig roaming the house. We just couldn't take that seriously.😂

Current read: The Horla by Guy de Maupassant

A man believes he's being haunted by an invisible creature. Is he mad, or is there really something slowly killing him?😱

Finished it! The Hairy Ones Shall Dance was better whenever Wellman focused on the horror. The werewolf backstory was good (and I guessed who it was!).

The Hairy Ones Shall Dance by Manly Wade Wellman

Skeptic Talbot Wills is invited to a seance by his friend, Doctor Otto Zoberg. However, things get bloody and Wills becomes a murder suspect chased by an angry mob.😱

We decided to add another pizza attack before the final confrontation though we're not that good with action sequences. Still, it’s finished. The panel below is from there and sees monster slayer Tim face yet another evil pizza.😱

Now Watching: Khauf (2025), an Indian horror TV series

A group of women in a hostel are at the mercy of a mysterious entity and the only one who seems to be able to help is a serial killing witch doctor who targets vulnerable women.😱 This isn’t going to end well.🫣

Indigenous (2014)

It's dumb tourists VS local legend, and we all know how that goes.😱 In this case, it's a Chupacabra that roams a Panama jungle where another group has already disappeared. He's a very sloppy eater, who bites heads, faces, and knees off.
