For some reason, I decided it was a good idea to re-watch Elektra (2005). I had forgotten how annoying Abby was, and also dumb. She knows she and her father are on the run from killers and so she... breaks into her new neighbour's house + tries to steal stuff? Seriously?🙄

We know enough about the ED franchise to know that this movie has a more serious tone. We liked most of it: Possessed Ellie was creepy as were the book + records; there was plenty of bloody violence; and the tension was high.😱

This is basically a cheaper version of The Craft (also from 1996). It uses Catholicism rather than paganism + it's considerably hornier. Jamie is as good as Nancy as the evil, power hungry witch, but Faith was no Sarah.

A lot of it was better than the 1979 version. The haunting was more consistent, the house's influence on George was done better, the narrative was more focused, and Jodie, the not so imaginary friend, wasn't ignored.
