Parole systems vary from state to state, but across the board, our research finds that they are:
❌Politically motivated
❌Under-resourced
❌Largely dysfunctional
Let's start with how parole boards operate.

Absolutely unbelievable. Every one of these rulings is more & more disturbing. What are the odds that an en banc hearing will reverse this?

Look, I just tried to watch The Alabama Solution (HBO Documentary, 2025) I just couldn’t, I wanted to cry. Inmates living in horrible conditions, corruption, violence, slave labor and addiction. Appalling.

This is why Alabama has the most dangerous most violent most understaffed prisons in the country. New buildings wont fix this. Everyone involved needs to understand basic human behavior. Because the most dangerous person is someone who has nothing else to lose. Alabama can change that. /10

And due to this toxic systemic culture, where cruelty is the "standard", even wardens or commissioners who understand behavior & how to make prisons SAFER for everyone including those hateful COs often get undermined & sabotaged. /9

Occasionally a Warden or supervisor will come along who understands basic human behavior & wants to reinstate some of those incentives. The general consensus when this happens is the COs HATE those wardens. They believe inmates don't "deserve" incentives. That cruelty is the norm /8
