Ex-newspapers, now alumni comms. Texas Aggie '94. I write a lot about Texas A&M and its history: linktr.ee/aggiejournalist. Known to emit Muppet noises.
@linkerm.bsky.social i'm in the archives and looking at your original print of this! I thought you'd like to see 😊 I was hoping there'd be a notation about which year, but haven't been able to confirm

Congrats to the nearly 5,000 Aggies getting their Aggie Rings this week! Here's a little physics experiment from @aggienetwork.bsky.social -- @tamu.bsky.social's Dr. Tatiana Erukhimova helped us explain the phenonemon, and that's my hand doing the spinning 😊

As Texas A&M prepares to lay our Reveille IX to rest today, here are some words written about the first Reveille after she passed away in 1944, as the cadets training to go to war stopped to grieve for their little black-and-white mutt:

"If Aggies do it twice, it's a tradition" is a much older sentiment than I realized! This is 1947 😊

(specifically, Feb. 7, 1947, in the Battalion. howdy from the archives!)

The first and maybe last thing to read about D-Day, the brutal, short life of the men of Able Company.

Published in 1960 by a WWI & II combat vet-turned-writer. It was the first 'real' account of D-Day amid post-war John Wayne-ism, the 'first' Private Ryan.
