I dislocated my elbow a couple years ago, and totally agree! After they put it back it was so much better. Also, now you have a great radiograph to shock and amaze your friends and students. 😂

Yeah, some indies aren't there and of course Amazon tries to get Audible exclusives as much as possible. I usually buy indies direct from the author or from Kobo. It does mean more apps to keep track of, but I've sort of resigned myself to that.

I like Libro.fm. If it's been a while since you used it, their app does have better functionality than it used to. You can now use your credits to get books in-app (you can't buy things with money in-app because the app stores take a percentage of the fee and they can't afford that).
