I really enjoyed this eARC of Love At First Sighting by @mallorymarlowe.bsky.social. You can read my review over on the ‘gram or StoryGraph. (Or GRs but wanting to move away from there.). This was a super fun romance with a lot of heart and a fabulous mystery. The emotional depth was amazing.

Cry, Voidbringer is officially available to request on Netgalley! This is an anarchist dark fantasy about a conscripted warrior fighting to resist a government that is exploiting and abusing people for the sake of its own fight against a colonial empire. 👀

I’m really worried about the loss of information that’s happening right now… I’m encouraging people to PLEASE save web pages (and data and research) in Internet Archive so it can still be accessed. Email me if you need help! #archiveresearch #archivedata

Remember what I said about paying attention to what your state is up to regarding vaccines? Montana is about to ban mRNA vaccines. A local family physician egregiously lied and said, “mRNA vaccines are the most destructive and lethal medical products that have ever been used in medical history”.

I always overdress for conferences. But I lost my job this week and I was hanging up my stuff at the hotel yesterday and I realized all I brought was my “high anxiety/I’m sad clothes”. (I very obviously packed my suitcase on autopilot.) At least there’s jeans and hopefully no one notices

There isn’t enough attention being paid to the firing of the Archivist of the United States. Here’s more info about why this matters: www.linkedin.com/posts/dbmcd_...

The Gilded Ones is such an amazing YA fantasy novel. I loved all the girls and their personalities, the magic and history of the world, and AN ANIMAL COMPANIONNNNN. (That was so precious). (Finished yesterday)

I’m not sure what other alarms should be ringing right now but this is blaring…

This affects ALL research - “gender” is used in all human research because of demographics. “Diversity” includes things like “biodiversity” - and it seems CDC is just the 1st

insidemedicine.substack.com/p/breaking-n...
BREAKING NEWS: CDC orders mass retraction and revision of submitted research across all science and medicine journals. Banned terms must be scrubbed.
Any unpublished manuscript mentioning certain topics, including gender and "LGBT," must be pulled or revised.

This is what I have to keep reminding myself. None of this is new.
Don’t forget that one of the goals here is to convince us that they are so well-organized and so prepared, that there is nothing we can do.

But ALSO don’t forget that while they are loud, none of their goals are new. The communities who pushed back their ancestors are still here pushing back.

SHARE WIDELY.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights.

You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one.

100%. I work in another department and received the exact same email word for word (no one signed ours though..) ours came from the office of the secretary.
Important context for the NASA anti-DEI email that is circulating (and perhaps other agency emails).
The heads of all agencies were required to send this message to the whole agency by 5pm today. It’s not just NASA. And the heads of the agencies didn’t get to alter the language.

I finished The Half Life of Valery K awhile back, and this is such an amazing book that takes a look at a point in history that I don’t feel like gets a lot of coverage. It looks at nuclear research in the Soviet Union and life under communism.

The thing about pre-orders: If you pre-order thru an indie bookstore (which generally doesn't cost you up-front!) it is HUGE for the lifeblood of the book, it is a boost to authors, the publisher, and the booksellers who steward this life. It's a little thing but it's meaningful should this inspire!
