Debate also treats meaning, principles, positions, topics, etc as empty and interchangeable and essentially unimportant. Winning is the ONLY thing that matters, and you should switch up your positions to whatever achieves it. It's a deeply, deeply creepy thing to teach kids.

Fascists don’t like vulnerability and earnestness, which is what theater kids have in spades. And God knows it’s a safe space for so many LGBTQ kids. It was for me.
