i'm so tired of godot's UI framework that i'm going to make my own from scratch. by the end of the week i should either 1) have my own superior UI framework or 2) finally have some respect for godot's

i've been building Steam Machines for years. my favorite steam machine right now is Pop OS but i ran Lin- ah... Steam Machine Mint for quite a while
For people who like tinkering, or those who have been messing with miniature TV-connecting gaming PCs for years and are simply tired of trying to make Windows workable, the future promised by the Steam Machine is already here.
I’ve already been using a “Steam Machine” for months, and I think it’s great
With a little know-how, you can get yourself a Steam Machine right this minute.

i think a major flaw with e-sports is that you can just keep playing them endlessly for your whole life. real sports only let you play them a little bit before blasting out your kneecaps so you can spend the rest of your life looking on with bittersweet nostalgia

steam hardware line up is very cool but my petty complaint is:

it's cool that the steam controller's wired transceiver doubles as a charger. but why build another transceiver directly into the steam machine? you still need to plug in the wired one because the steam machine doesn't have a charger

programming volume sliders for my game and i had the idea to start my sliders at 50%

that way whether the game is too loud or too quiet, you never have to mess with system volume settings

i feel like most games start at 100% so the only option they give you is to get quieter

oh no our billionaire tragically died before he could perform mass layoffs and sell the company to some investment firm. now we're stuck in a hellish purgatory where we endlessly receive wages while providing value to society
Firstly, billionaires are not physically made of stocks, if a billionaire falls down a hole and expires his stock portfolio persists and continues to have value, secondarily, this is why one diversifies one's investment portfolio outside of the stock market, thirdly, okay, let's test this hypothesis

fine i will tell you my secret

when making a pbj sandwich, toast only 1 side of each bread. put the pb&j on the toasted sides, then bring your sandwich together. congratulations you have just created a more perfect pbj- a natural evolution of the classic sandwich which outperforms by every measure

A comment on itch reminded me of this idea for creating #TTRPG dungeons I had a while back. I still think its neat and I don't think I've actually shared it here on bsky.

So bsky.. meet Crossword Dungeons!
Do a crossword, use the answers and designs as inspiration for the rooms, get creative!

idk if something like this already exists but i created a cli tool called 'situate' (st) which recursively matches all files in a directory and can delete, copy or rename them using regex capture groups.

i'm using this to quickly move dozens of exported sprites because krita lacks a good exporter

side-by-side of the OG sprite and reworked sprite (haru for scale)

it's definitely cleaner, but i think the face lost its derpy charm. but ultimately there will be lots of hair and face styles, so hopefully i accidentally make more charm along the way

i've been debating streaming my artwork on twitch. i'm very much *not* an artist, but maybe watching a non-artist game developer beat their sprites into submission would be valuable to other aspiring game devs?

or at the very least it could provide some sort of anthropological fascination
