successfully avoided the term "artificial intelligence" in a marketing related project proposal where we intend to apply some ML methods..

ironic for someone focussing on sequential decision making methods in their phd to not be interested in uncertainity in the same extend at all when it comes to private matters.

i know the feeling of not deserving the chance you are given due to a self-proclaimed lack of competence runs under the name imposter syndrome.

but what if you really *are* incompetent & out of chance, nobody has called you out on that yet as they have formed an impression of you based on hearsay?

The Russian backed disinformation campaign spamming fact-checkers with false claims and faked news videos is now trying to use Stalker 2 in their propaganda, falsely claims there's anti-Zelensky messages in the game. Left is their claim, right is a screenshot from the same moment in the game:

some of the social sciences might have problems with replica studies, but if one ever questions the validity of the dunning-kruger-effect, then please let me know, i know some people who claim to be "AI experts".

summarising my experience in working in a job that is somewhat close to a data scientist: if your prediction model is too good to be true...

obviously it was pea-hacking
No-one has ever been able to replicate Gregor Mendel's observations of pea plants. They're a little "too perfect", lacking even random statistical noise that would have been expected from small sample sizes.

The big question: was it scientific fraud?

I recently made a comic complaining that NASA refuses to listen to my good ideas for improving the Solar System (xkcd.com/2750).

To my delight, NASA’s Science Mission Directorate has sent me an actual expert panel evaluation of my “flatten the planets” proposal! Sadly, they decided not to fund it.
