This is a non-spoiler-y page from the comic I'm working on. The inks are on 3 11x17 pages. The colors are traditional washes on watercolor paper scanned in. Traditional ink spatter, charcoal smears and pastel for things like rocks clouds and grass. #comicsky #comics

Of all the drawing I've done today, this one is my favorite. Drawing comics on my day off...my favorite way to spend my days off of storyboarding. #comicsky

Indeed, I do! Here is my Dusk Tribute that I did a few years ago.

Post you from a different era.

c.1992 just a few months before I got paid to draw for a living.

I watched Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo last night. Seemed relevant. #Louvre

If there was ever a painter that represents my childhood, no one comes closer than George Wilson. His body of work could have filled 3 books, but this one will do and it is amazing. Many shot from the original art! Highly recommend, esp if you were a fan of Gold Key comics in the 60s/70s #comicsky

Agreed. And as far as the comic pages go...I'm with ya. There is nothing like the feeling of the ink on the brush against the bristol. But I wanted a painted book...but I needed it to be fast because I take waaaay too long to do the pages. So this was the compromise. I do love having the originals

Is that panel from this comic, by chance?

Drome by @jesselonergan.bsky.social is a masterpiece of nearly wordless visual storytelling with some serious outside the box page and panel design that pushes the form, like nothing you've seen before. I can't recommend enough. #comicsky

This is currently on the drawing table: a couple of panels from the comic I'm currently drawing. Doing a TV show and comics at the same time is not something I have mastered, so it really slows my progress on the comic. #comicsky #comics #makingcomics

This is my dog Mr. Kent. He likes to rest on the carpet in this pose all the time...so I could not resist making this comp. That's his real super cape, though. #superdog

Some recent drawing prelims from the sketchbook, all for various panels of the comic book I'm working on. #comics #comicsky #pencils #traditionalart

A color plate from my book Technopolis from the 5 page pitch. Colors by Andrew Pratt using the old school method: off-set blu line printing that you paint on overlay with ink lines printed on acetate. I made a print of this later on and added some digital tweaks in the fog and light glow. #comicsky

I recently sold the art to my comic Technopolis. I had the work photographed at hi res to archive due to the heavy use of zippatone (not scanner friendly). This is the opening double page spread. I was 25 when I did this...and proudly wearing my Al Williamson influence on my sleeves. #comicsky

It's very rare that I 100% like anything that I draw. I always feel like I'm letting stuff go, that I could have done it better. THIS one tho...it felt like my inks were on fire...I corrected nothing. My fave work from this book I'm doing. So far. #comicsky

Some color work from the comic I'm working on right now. These are just tight details to avoid spoilers. #comicsky

Last night @wendydphoto.bsky.social‬ was in my studio to photograph the original art for my Russ Manning nominated comic Technopolis (1997). All the zippatone in the book prevents scanning (Moiré patterns result when scanned). I recently sold the entire book to a collector. #comicsky

This is a vintage electric eraser from the 50s. If you make comics on paper, I cannot recommend these beasts enough. Those erasers are almost as old the machine. It works best with the old pink eraser n will easily remove ink from bristol without damaging it. Nothin on the market today comes close.

This is a color test for the book I'm working on: a combination of digital and traditional. #comicsky

This is truly a wonderful read...all for the love of comics, the love of making comics...and the reason we do it. Amazing stuff!

I can't really show much of the book I'm currently drawing, but here is a page of collected sketches and tests from my sketchbook. Some of these sketches became the final pencils that I inked over. #comicsky #comics

There's nothing I'm workin' on right now that I can post, so here is something I posted a while back: a commission I did at the beginning of the year. Pencils and inks on paper. Hand lettered. Digital colors. #comicsky #superman

1949 by @dustinweaver.bsky.social‬ was fantastic! It's one of those smart sci-fi neo-noir pulp pastiche comics that I'm a sucker for, and one that had me going back in to re-read parts immediately to catch the blink and you'll miss it details. Gorgeous art! #comicsky

A director I was working with asked if I could draw him a Hulk image that reflected the work I did on the film. I didn't have any time for that, so I printed off a page of boards on arches water color paper and put a quick grey wash over it to make it a little more 'one-of-a-kind'. #incrediblehulk
